I recently read that 'fidget house' is becoming the new 'funky house'...it certainly feels like that sometimes. The big, cheap shot basslines and the over the top predictable/unpredictable build ups are proving to be a tad un-inspiring. Its cool to see the new wave of fidget creators taking the best parts of the sound and mixing it with other bits and pieces, artists like Mowgli, Clark Able, The Bulgarian and The Bald and the Beautiful are all mixing in house, garage and minimal to great effect. Listening to the latters productions make me happy in the thought that people are still spending time and effort making music, I gather the guys are friends with King Claude and do some parties on the West Coast? Whos to say? Just check out 'The Bacon Chambers'on their myspace and this one below to confirm their status as 'one to watch'

Jim Warboy
is one of our favourite deejays ever, not only is he a very talented producer ('London's Getting Dirty' anyone?), promoter (All You Can Eat basically re-wrote the London club kid rulebook and paved the way for many, many copy cats) he also has a knack of dressing like a gay, south-central Blood! Which in my book is one of the best looks in the whole wide world. Warboy is concentrating on raising his production game this year so be sure to keep an eye out for his new tracks, he also has some new plans for the London club scene...so expect the unexpected!!

Heres a new mix of his, with some cool exclusives in.

So apparently last weekend we went to Belgium, partied with Medhi, Kavinsky and the rest of the most amazing ParthardERS in partytown Liege...and then apparently we went to Brussels and won an Ipod Battle?!?! WTF?!? The only thing I remember is being driven along the Belgian highway at 120mph by a Front 242 listening speed freak...damn Belgian beer is strong. Good job we have this slide show to remind us all exactly what went on.

Mad love goes to the Colonel and his soldiers.

Hey! Its 'Comedown Thursdays'! Ever get that empty feeling halfway through the week? Life seeming pointless? Suddenly your goals and achievements add up to nothing? Whats the point of it all? Take it easy! Thats just the Serotonin in your body going - "Hello? Anyone out there? Anyone?", I know now why on days like these I constantly return the genius that is Booka Shade, this here is a classic Essential Selection from last year. I defy the melancholic melodies of Walter Merziger and Arno Kammermeier not to get you going again. This two part mix (first live set, then deejay set) will have you donning your favourite tshirt and sneaker combo and will see you out in the real world ready for whatever the 'man' can throw at you. Go Get 'Em Tiger!!! Yeah!!

For real though, its really good.

A while back I posted the classic Paul Johnson track 'Get Get Down', since then I have still been playing it, a lot, badly. I'm sorry...I get really drunk and its like pulling an old friend out to make me happy just one more time. Now I'm putting that shit to rest, for good.

Cos I got a new friend, his name is Charlie Fanclub and he bangs. Looking at his myspace you'd be mistaken for thinking Charlie just makes the same old 'crunchy-rock-electro' fare, BZZZZ! WRONG! He sent me this mature, heads down, jacking update of 'Get Get Down' which I'm well into. The track builds with disco pops, minimal clicks and wheezes and lush pads, calling on the familiarity of the vocals and sitting it next to a relentless, mechanical bass. Super Duper dope work!

Cassette Records, are a wicked post punk, disco(ish) label run by super star producers, remixers and dj's Punks Jump Up. Their latest release is by Sci-Fi SKANE, a really nice bit of space punk. I'm particularly fond of the Zongamin remix. sorry for the shitty quality mp3, but you really should buy this one ( get it here )(oh and buy t-shirts while your there dope design)

First FACT magazine run a nice piece by your boy Graeme Sinden on the history of 'Ghetto House', then Mixmag get in on the action with a 'Booty Bass Explained' profile (with a nice little nod towards Get Rude, this Saturday people!). Looks like a booty takeover to me.

To celebrate people finally getting a little tired of 'electro-rock-rave-bullshit' I have posted here what I consider to be one of the best electro tracks ever. Combine the shoulderpad-shaking rapping style with a wierd highpitched back up on vocals, add one of the best basslines EVER and you got yourself a smash! Classic through and through.

Newcleus - Jam On It

To be extra nice I included the recent Claude Vonstroke remix which houses things up nicely but still remains true to its electro roots. Boyeeee.

Newcleus - Jam On It (Claude Vonstroke Galen Disco Remix)

P.S Check the Newcleus Website and shed a tear for how good music used to be.

ok..... so..... I have been the laziest blogger this side of the sloth blog on the discovery channels site ( thats not true or funny... sorry)

I have been doing a ton since I last wrote (bad zombie bad)... in chronological order

New York... Pow... this seems like a year ago now but it was only about two weeks.. Played at a amazing night called Ruff Club,, that was a hell of Party, hung out with Divine Brown for part of the evening (the hooker that sucked off Hugh Grant in LA)... and she used the best chat up line I have have ever heard on me---Divine "Are you Straight?"--Nathaniel: "Yes"---Divine "Ssssttttrrrraight Back to my house"... I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a bit scared. Any who away from hookers and back to MUSIC, while in New York I spent a lot of time with the Trouble and Bass crew, apart from being the nicest bunch of folks I have ever encountered they are also incredibly talented Producers, DJ's, Promoters and have a 5star record label (also called T&B). Keep your eyes peeled for some mega hot new releases.
This is a mix Drop the Lime (aka the best host on the planet) did for Synthesis Magazine

DTL MIX for Synthesis Magazine

Sweden... I got straight off the plane from NYC and on to one to Sweden for a holiday to get over my holiday, I could relate lots of details but it would be detracting from the music talk.... Mapei is a very very talented lady. A amazing Mc of American Heritage who has been living in Sweden for some time, she came to our attention about a year ago with a stunning track called Video Vixens, and has been turning down offers left right and center ever since. She has just been working with Switch and the results (or at least one of 'em) can be heard on her myspace... she also plays with Spank Rock @Fabric on the 7th of September and yes you will see me in the front row..

Mapei- Video Vixens

London/Liverpool:Back to the Uk for Creamfields and Get Loaded-both amazing. In Particular Claude Von Stokes set at C.F and Mia perfomance at G.L

Claude Von Stroke - Mix for Mix mag
