i really don't see the distinction between this supposed genre and any other pond-hopping combination like ska-punk, merseybeat or baile funk. i think they're all on the same ethical ground, whether you like it or not.
I guess you could argue that genres like Baile Funk is Brazilian music made by Brazilians though....
